BRIAN GRIFFIN

Rhonda Wilson always supported and believed in me, and that was at times when my life in general was not that easy. Also she has been the only woman who baked—and got me to burst out of—a life-size cake!
— Brian Griffin

Brian Giffin's first exhibition was Young British Photographers in 1975. Later, in 1988 a solo exhibition of Work was presented at the National Portrait Gallery (London). The accompanying photobook, Work, was awarded the Best Photography book in the World at the Barcelona Pirmavera Fotografica (1991).

Additional awards and accolades include: The Photographer Of The Decade (The Guardian, 1989), the Centenary Medal from the Royal Photographic Society (2013) for a lifetime achievement in photography, and in 2014 he received an Honorary Doctorate from Birmingham University for his lifetime contribution to the city of Birmingham (UK).

Recent exhibitions include a major retrospective of his portraiture work, Face To Face.
