KEN ROSENTHAL AND LYNN SILVERMAN: WORKS IN BLACK AND WHITE
MAY 17 – JUNE 29, 2019 | Opening Reception: May 16, 6:00–8:00pm
Klompching Gallery is pleased to present a two-person exhibition of traditional black & white photographs, by Ken Rosenthal and Lynn Silverman.
Both artists are authorities in the art of darkroom printing, and are showing together for the first time. This a wonderful opportunity to witness the connoisseurship of traditional printing, by two contemporary artists who perceptively merge their medium with their respective subjects.
The show includes key artworks from Rosenthal's archive, alongside a selection from Silverman's expansive 'Lifeline' series. This is an intimate show; a quiet conversation about the photograph, light and narrative. Immediately clear, is the seemingly disparate aeathetics, but close scrutiny will engender the artists’ shared passion for the traditional photograph, and their expertise in exploiting the blackest of blacks—in the case of Silverman— and the broad coppery tones of silver hallides—in the case of Rosenthal.
May 18, 1:00–3:00pm: Book Signing and Meet the Artist, with Ken Rosenthal
June 15, 1:00–3:00pm: Collector’s Salon with Lynn Silverman (RSVP required)
