In late summer of 2016, I decided to start a series of portraits using the large north light window of my garage for lighting. The light had a beautiful quality, ideal for the timeless aesthetic that I wanted to achieve. Starting with a self portrait, and other men I know as subjects, I quickly became enamored with the process, and fascinated with my subjects' reactions to the highly detailed images of themselves.

At the same time, I also began photographing young athletes in the community that were willing to sit for me using the same technique, wanting to portray them in an accomplished manner, while also exhibiting their youth, beauty and style. What developed was a series of intimate and revealing individual studies that seem to penetrate the surface and reveal each subject's inner strength and personality.
